Threats to academic freedom

“Academic freedom is an intrinsic element of scholarship. That is why many universities have it formally enshrined in their rules. This is in addition to any freedom of speech laws that some countries enjoy. Any threat to this freedom really does present an ‘appalling vista’. But such threats don’t occur in the civilized world, surely? Think again …” (more)

McShane to be moved to rehabilitation Unit after coming out of coma

He has now been cleared, but due to this, has been placed under extensive monitoring.
