Academic disengagement: Qualitative historical evidence

“… Extrapolating from these historical trends, it appears that a new student culture has emerged, which we have referred to as a culture that encourages a norm of entitled disengagement. In no previous era did high levels of disengagement coincide with extreme pressure to attain high grades, as is the case in the current era. And, although these patterns were observed in American universities, there is little reason to believe that Canadian universities differed significantly, especially given how similar these universities are today …” (more)
